Wonder and Dread Wonder in the midst of ten trillion things turned upside down is tougher these days— I can fall straight into brooding When I pay close attention it seems everyone suffers Yet I see small blazes of kindness—fan these offer a hug wave a car into my lane hold my tongue I dive back inside rest in the big field of knowing attend to my dread It won’t actually eat me Who notices? Can I bring wonder to that?
I completely understand and subscribe to your belief in small wonders....or good deeds. In fact, I plan a lot of my good deeds like holding doors open at Walmart or wherever I'm going, giving drivers the right of way, and pre-planning compliments for my friends at the gym each morning. Kind of guaranties a good start.
It sure does! I live my life the same way. I love "random acts of kindness." If someone asks me what my spiritual path is, I'm most likely now to say "kindness."
Here's to "small blazes of kindness!" Wonder-full.
Thanks, Stephen!
