Wonder and Dread
Wonder in the midst
of ten trillion things
turned upside down
is tougher these days—
I can fall straight
into brooding
When I pay close attention
it seems everyone suffers
Yet I see small blazes
of kindness—fan these
offer a hug
wave a car into my lane
hold my tongue
I dive back inside
rest in the big field of knowing
attend to my dread
It won’t actually eat me
Who notices?
Can I bring wonder to that?Discussion about this post
