Where is my holiday spirit? On a walkabout Not in sight anywhere I’ve looked not hard I dislike bustle in the reflective time, heavy traffic in our small town Hustle, rushing when the season calls for quiet Deep quiet. Listening.
I miss the monastery the most, this time of year, I think...it was such a sane-and-silent step back from the cultural, consumer craziness! The liturgical calendar began December 24th (preceded, of course, by Advent),not the day after Thanksgiving... It was a time of preparation, contemplation, introspection, and deep listening. A challenge in today's mainstream/mainscream world, I'm afraid!

listening quiet inside
yes. The only way through.

Having never lived at a monastery--only visited--I can only imagine how lovely that time must have been.
Sending love to you both,

My holiday spirit is in the quiet too. Never was a fan of this time of year besides the gathering of loved ones for prayer and quiet intimacy.
Love this. Thank you.
