what I missed 1962 the kind one a small-town boy, gazing with care and desire who honored my edges oh, those soft lips Mom, not supportive his dad’s hardware store waiting—she wanted more for her daughter I stepped away allowed a suave city guy who didn’t like to kiss to snag my attention
Interesting question, Greg. And, as a good poem does, this one set me to considering my opportunities and dodged bullets. There are some bullets I couldn’t dodge, and on better days, I might even be grateful.
Aw, opportunity missed? Or bullet dodged?
Who knows? But I have such a wonderful husband of 36 years now. But I do know this--that first marriage to the suave guy was an unfortunate mistake.
I can relate on both counts.💚so much gratitude for my life experience.
Yes, so much gratitude!

Thank you! I'm delighted if the poem had that effect on you!
