Deeply moving, the way 'aegis of light' functions as both ancient protection and intimate gesture. That 'curled danger' line hits hard when you've watched someone you care about navigate a world that doesn't fully see them—I had a freind in college who taught me how exhausting hypervigilance becomes. Your poem reminds me that sometimes the most powerfull act is simply witnessing someone's glow and saying 'the world begs for this.'

I'm very touched by your comment, thank you. I was molested as a four-year-old, and I am definitely hypervigilant. The danger and craziness these days feel like a huge venomous snake.

PS: I would never has thought that an "DevOps Engineer Designing/Building AI Infrastructure at a Fortune 500" would have any interest in my poetry--my own kind of prejudice? You might be interested to know that I use AI as a thesaurus. I will, however, NEVER let it write for me!

So nice... and I love how the lit palms of the hands in the photo look like angel wings—"an aegis of light," indeed!

I loved that image when I found it! When I sort through images, I wait for some kind of internal "yes."
