That river of rain
a year ago fifteen
inches in three days
Thrilled it ended
fire season
Unaware it would drown
Meyer lemon,
two Daphne shrubs
Three scent-filled
winter gifts, gone
their spaces bare
This is how it is
here, gone here, gone
not choosing arrival
or leaving
Life feeling its way

There is nothing to be lost or attained..." "...gone here, gone here..." Not always what we consider just or fair, this is the direct truth...the way of things....
