Catch and… Her long, curious nose pointing at the floor my sighthound Reading her I peer, too A delicate gecko aware of the looming goes still With a firm grip a pat I lead Jazz away, slip on a leash grab a glass jar a stiff card coax the little guy in Tap and pour him out—he slides into leaves my held breath floats free
We get lots of small lizards called anoles...green ones that turn colors. Sometimes I will catch one and relocate it, but most of the time, it's live and let live around here. They end up living in the larger potted plants.
For a while, my son and I kept an anole in a cage. She laid an egg! It did not, however, come to fruition. After knowing her, I can't "live and let live."
She rescued Gecko
from risky close encounter.
Both breathe better now.
Yes, we are!
Terrific
Thanks, Joyce. I'm so glad I was there to save the little guy.

Love your poem!

Could never hurt an anole. If they want to live inside, fine with me.
Me, too--but Jazz is a BIG threat!! Have to protect the anole or lizard....
