The Tongue and the Heart
Pause the tongue, allow
the heart’s forward momentum,
never flippant speaking
the highest truth it knows
The reckless tongue
a witless danger—
I’ve learned this
over eighty long years
Your poem made me think how often the heart finishes its sentence long before the tongue begins speaking. I read it slowly this evening. It stayed with me.
So grateful to see your poem here today. I hope yesterday went well and that you feel healing happening. Basheera had us all send you love and healing at 11:15.
