You made me think about "inexorable." It's right in that death is unavoidable, but I never thought of it as persistent, unrelenting--a kind of push. It's just there, adamantly, unsparing, but quiet, too. Stealthy. Easy to ignore its inexorable presence.

At age 80, it feels inexorable now! And I feel its push, although today, my health is good.
