The After with thanks to Ellen Girardeau Kempler Of course there’s an after, cosmos still swirling and expanding in the wake of my body, gone—but I doubt heaven as many imagine I long to meld back into the original field— doing now done whirlpool returns to river But if there is a heaven, let mine be spacious stretches of solitude large sunlit studio endless spread of supplies for both writing and painting beloveds visit to share a cuppa sighthounds by my side
This is such a beautiful poem and with such an elegant, ethereal flow. I love your description of your "doubts of heaven - truly glorious" and your description of what heaven would be for you.
Really powerful. And where does "Dancer" come in? We have a husky named Dancer <3
The name "Dancer" isn't in the poem (that I can find!), but we had a lovely Irish wolfhound named Dancer. She made it to almost ten, which is old for a wolfie.

You noted your photo as your favorite of Dancer. Our Dancer is a special girl and I love the name. And your poem 💛
Thanks, Holly!
Excellent, Amrita! And what a delightfully surprising ending. So well done!
Thanks! What surprised you about the ending?
"doing now done / whirlpool returns / to river" - love this!
Thanks! As far as I'm concerned, those are the most important lines in the poem!
