Snowbird
The Ekphrastic Review's Challenge
“Cold” by Remedios Varo
Snowbird
Scrapped his wings, fashioned
a cape instead
On his ice-crystal steed
he skates through bleak clouds
scooping buckets of flakes
to shroud our wintry world
Infants feel his force,
howl in the night
shattering whole households
But as soon as he passes
they snuggle in their blankies
suck on their binkies
drift back to sleep
and wake to crystal-white

I absolutely adore the work of Remedios Varo! I have two books of her artwork, and a print hanging near my desk. I love the women surrealists, something I started studying last year!! So wonderful to see your poem!!
Remedio Varos does some weird and intriguing artwork. Excellent job with this one! ❤️
