mighty oak branch October 10, 1992 side-by-side we stare up the heft, the weight he flings the string saw third try over, I catch my end pull! he calls saw gnawing through pull! I cry the rending crack branch’s butt-end strike slammed off my feet agonizing breath odd cast of light twigs graze my cheek my husband’s shout he’s by my side
And the interesting part is, it cracked open writing for me again. I've written every day since I was healed enough to gimp my way to my computer. I did have one in 1992! I began the memoir about raising my disabled son. So much good can wriggle out of disaster.
And the light shines through the crack - what a powerful illustration of how life changes in an instant!

Soooo...grateful you're still here...still with us! That you survived "the rending crack!"
You can imagine my gratefulness, too!! I'm equally grateful you are here....
Right after this event I returned to writing--literally cracked open--and haven't stopped since. 33 years ago.
Wow, "intense" is right. Very vivid images! Powerful, Amrita.
very powerful time. It cracked me open. I picked up writing again the day I got home from the hospital, and haven't stopped since.
Whoa! That’s intense - the writing and the event. I’m breathless.
Life-changing. Right after I got home from the hospital I began writing again. I've written every day since. Cracked open.
