letterpress guide like willow restrained grace economy, both motion and speech kind in his eighth decade he shepherds creativity and magic the presses his friends wait bursts of efficient activity then fall quiet oiled, cared for, covered
Your poem reminds me (soooooo much!) of senior monks (Trappists) I lived with at the abbey...."In his eighth decade he shepherds creativity and magic..." What a gift to find souls like this! I love your poem's ending:"...then fall quiet oiled, cared for, covered..." Sounds almost like the death of a monk...
He is a wonderful man, and sadly, just retired. I will treasure my ten hours with him. But the letterpress shop has been passed on to Tiana, who is 30 years younger, and she is wonderful in a different way. I hear she's a good teacher. I meet with her this coming Wednesday.
I read the poem to Eric--he is very humble, and could almost not take it it--but I feel he did.
