Just another winter day—dark
on rising, sprinkling cold
rain Humans label it
the start of a new year
I pin my new wolfhound
calendar in place of the old
that bright, serious face
peering at me over 31 new
days of opportunity
that come now
and now and now
And here, a gorgeous brightly warm summer day - but alas, no greyhound calendar 😌
Yes, I celebrate solstice as the start of the new year, and my birthday as the start of my new year. But January 1st? Just another gorgeous (often rainy) day.
