it’s all too much cascading bad news harsh weight pressing down fires, floods, democracy destruction signs of the end times what’s a kind heart to do? our dog seeks me out rests her long nose on my knee holding my gaze— I bury my head deep in her ruff breathe in doggy scent comforting accept her invite to walk keep my focus close note what she attends who left their mark she raises her head sound of hawk screeching buries her nose in a lily my heart rate slows belly softens this right here
I feel this so much, Amrita! You know I’ve been going through a personal hard time and cuddling my dog is really the best thing I can do each day. When I rest my head on him or squish my face into his fur, I always think. “This helps.” He’s sleeping at my feet on the sofa now.
Dogs know how to love:
Show it, show up, while we can.
Dogs know how to live.
They sure do!
"this right here"-A beautiful reminder!
We seems to have a great deal in common, Julie. You know you can always reach me at amritaskyepoetry@gmail.com.... Sending love, Amrita

I'm so delighted you have a dog to cuddle! They are the best. Allisonn, I'm right here if you need to talk.
Canine comfort bestowed!
"...this right here," indeed. I, too, can breathe in that sweet doggy scent from afar. Thank you, Amrita!
