Hope In the center of my chest friendly, warming like sleepy tea sliding down my throat in late evening Giddy in my belly gentle wings fluttering or happy toes, sliding out of shoes A sensation of rising— hawk catching thermals, free-riding the air wave Like that
I've just sent my manuscript of poems about raising my son off to four beta readers. I think I have five more poems to write, but it's shaping up. I've been working with a poet, Charlie Jensen whom I met through PocketMFA (he gave one of my poems about Bird a first prize this summer, and I wanted to learn why) which has been very helpful. I've been working on landings--that particularly these poems about Bird, many of which contain pain, have strong endings.
"...hawk..." Ah, hope is the thing with feathers..."wings fluttering"! "Like that" Love "happy toes" and "sleepy tea"!
Thanks!

Wishing you the best in all your literary landings! (and takeoffs!)
Thank you. I'm inexplicably excited about this manuscript! I think it's strong.
"Like that"! What a landing... and a takeoff, too! Nicely done!
Thank you! A friend asked me what hope feels like. I did my best!
"sleepy tea sliding" - hope does have this soothing warm comfort
