New Noticing
a tanka sequence (rensaku)
Big change
no—giant adjustment
Now a cane
I watch every step
asphalt instead of sky
Pavement cracks
sturdy plants dismissed as weeds
color flares
in crevices unlikely conditions
crimson blossoms bring surprise
Pine twigs
cast dry from a cluster of trees
gather on concrete
needles in unexpected patterns
fish out my camera, take my timeDiscussion about this post

the good eye, chogyam trungpa called it. the eye of contemplation...
Wonderful, every line, from the title through the powerful first stanza to that last, satisfying image:
"fish out my camera, take my time"
I also love the line (and the nice metaphor): "sturdy plants dismissed as weeds"
So well done, Amrita!
