At a Loss Wiping the rim of my mocha cup a gentle outside morning pleasure I clean the edge of chocolate licking my finger sweet I sip while heat ravages our world sip while Gazans beg cures for their infants sip while Trump brags and brags and brags Here in the capsule of my morning quiet, I try and fail to hold it all sip breathe send peace send love and still the lichen grows
Love this, Amrita. Being aware, but being separate. Saturating your tongue, your eyes, yourself in what is at hand and worth noticing.
What a lovely comment, Jane. Thank you.
I love that you chose lichen because it is a symbiotic organism. 💚
And that's why I chose it!
ah yes, the lichen, growing peace and love as the world rages on.
Oh, I'm glad you liked it. I thought people might bust me for this poem. I feel so helpless in this world!!
We are all helpless except in the small ways we live and interact and share, especially poetry. xoxo
How beautiful, yes!
