I'm reading an amazing little book, "My Trade Is Mystery--Seven Meditations from a Life in Writing" by Carl Phillips. Meditations on ambition, stamina, silence, politics, practice, audience, community. Well worth a writer's attention. The way he turns the meanings of the words is surprising, deeply interesting.
